> The Beach Naturalist Course provides an engaging, rich overview of marine-related topics in Jefferson County. Participants learn about amazing local natural marine resources, issues and organizations. They explore special places with local and regional experts, make new friends and join in a tradition of service to the community. In this evolution of the Beach Watchers Program, we’ll be offering a Beach Naturalist class once a week for 6 weeks in the spring, focusing on the marine environment and partnering with the Port Townsend Marine Science Center and a separate 6-week course in the fall focusing on streams, freshwater systems and forests. Participants commit to volunteering 40 hours for local marine-related programs with WSU Extension, the Port Townsend Marine Science Center, Jefferson Marine Resources Committee and others.
