“Last Day of School Celebration” – June 12, 2014 at 2 pm

The last day of school is fast approaching. We had a good turnout last year with over 70 students and families in attendance. Several parents brought their families and their own picnics to enjoy this event. So here we go for another “Last Day of School Celebration” (swim and float party) for our Quilcene students. We are delighted to have the YMCA join us as they have agreed to co-host this event.

Mark your calendars for Thursday, June 12, at 2 pm for the annual “Last Day of School Celebration” at the Herb Beck Marina.

The Port of Port Townsend, Coast Seafoods, and Jim Speers at Herb Beck Marina will launch the float prior to June 12. Volunteers and support are needed to make this event available to our students. Financial donations to CMIQ will assist with providing student prizes and food.

US Bank will accept donations through CMIQ: specify “Last Day of School Celebration.” Or give a check to any CMIQ board member.

Other needs include: setting up four tables and tent canopies, beach safety observers, cookies/snacks, a sound system and, most of all, donated prizes that are “hot” for students in upper elementary through lower high school grades.

We have scheduled a beach cleanup for Thursday, May 22, at 9:30 am (two hours max.). Bring clippers, gloves, etc. for making the beach and surrounding area pristine for the summer. “The more, the merrier.”

If you have other ideas or can help in some way, please call Brian or Carol Barker (360-561-9837 or 360-951-4316) or email Carol Barker: carbar.

Many thanks!
Brian and Carol Barker
